The MAGQUIP “EccentriSort” Eddy Current Separator is a critical piece of equipment in any modern recycling plant where non-ferrous metal such as aluminium or copper must be separated from any waste or product stream.

The Eddy Current Separator is a non-ferrous metal separator system using an eccentrically orientated high-energy rare-earth rotor as opposed to the concentric type of rotor. This specially engineered high-speed rotor sets the performance benchmark for Eddy Current separators and has been proven technology that has been deployed in a huge range of applications.

MAGQUIP is also able to produce a “Fines” Eddy Current Eccentric rotor for smaller more difficult to separate particles less than 5 mm in size.

Electrically conductive particles introduced into a rapidly changing magnetic field produced by very strong Rare Earth (NdFeB) magnets have circulating electric currents induced in them – so called “Eddy Currents”.

The rapidly changing magnetic field is enabled by the rare earth magnet rotor rotating at very high speeds of 2800-3000 rpm. These swirling electrical eddy currents produce a magnetic field in the non- ferrous conducting particles. The reaction of the two “like pole” magnetic fields, opposing one another from the rotor and the induced particle produce a repulsion force on the particles

The repulsion force is added to the momentum from the belt travel to throw conductive particles forward from the drum. Non-conductive particles follow their normal trajectory; ferrous particles travel around the drum and fall from the belt.

The short belt conveyor system had a belt driven by a motorised pulley. Material travelling along the belt once repelled and ejected from the rotor, is thrown into a non-ferrous metal chute with any non-conducting material continuing along its natural trajectory from the belt.

Recover very clean and pure non-ferrous metals from granulated waste products, size range 5 to 200mm (fines version will separate less 5mm).

Typically, it is used in the processing of:

  • Scrap Metal and Cable Recycling
  • Metal separation
  • Rejects from shredder plants
  • Glass Cullet
  • Household refuse
  • Can sorting
  • E-Waste
  • Metal slag mixtures

Using the “EccentiSort” eccentric to rotor produce high rate of pure non-ferrous metal.

The Magquip “Eccentric” rotor has the following advantages:

  • High throughput and separation efficiency
  • Simple feeding arrangement
  • Unrestricted particle size (Fine type rotor available less 5mm particles)
  • Easy belt change via cantilevered frame assembly
  • Will handle relatively high amounts of ferrous metal as opposed to concentric type without particle inductive heating causing belt and rotor cover damage
